Research: Competency Index for Clinical Research Professionals (CICRP): Measuring Competencies of CoAPCR Students

Letter to CoACPR Institutional Members

Good day. There is a team of CoAPCR institutional members who have developed a survey to measure the acquisition of competence and evaluate readiness of students or graduates of academic programs teaching clinical research from our various member institutions. The research study is entitled, "Competency Index for Clinical Research Professionals (CICRP): Measuring Competencies of CoAPCR Students".  Jared Kerr, Assistant Professor at the University of North Carolina-Wilmington (UNCW), is serving as the study's Principal Investigator. This research study was approved by the UNCW Institutional Review Board #18-0003. Jared Kerr has been granted access to the CoAPCR institutional member email distribution list. Jared Kerr will use CoAPCR email distribution list to provide each institutional member the survey recruitment materials. The recruitment materials include an email, paper flyer, and web message. The survey is anonymous and personal identifiers of students are not collected in the survey.

We would like CoAPCR institutional members to distribute information about the study using the approved survey recruitment materials to the qualifying student population at your respective institutions. Participation by you and any students is voluntary. Potential study participants will qualify for the study if they are current students or a graduate of an academic program teaching clinical research. You should distribute the survey recruitment materials using your institution's appropriate email distribution list, bulletin board, website, or social media site.

If you do participate in distributing the survey recruitment materials to your students, please let Jared Kerr know the total number of students who qualify to receive the recruitment materials. We need to know when survey recruitment messages are sent to your students and the number of potential survey participants. The number of undeliverable recruitment messages (e.g., email) will be counted, so the total potential number of survey participants is accurate.

Any questions regarding the study or survey including any questions from potential student participants should be directed to Jared Kerr.

Survey Invitation to Students of Academic Programs in Clinical Research

Students or graduates of academic program teaching clinical research, please take a few minutes to complete an anonymous survey. This research study was approved by the UNCW Institutional Review Board #18-0003. Researchers need your help to measure the utility of a new competency index called the Competency Index for Clinical Research Professionals (CICRP). The CICRP aims to estimate perceptions of confidence and readiness in clinical research competencies.
