Open Rank Faculty Position in MS Clinical Research Management

The Rutgers School of Health Professions (SHP) Department of Health Informatics, MS Clinical Research Management Program is inviting applications for a full-time faculty position. This position consists primarily of teaching, scholarship and service.  Under the auspices of teaching, this individual will assist the Program Director in the design, implementation, evaluation, and revision of curriculum, mentor and advise current students as well as supervise students on their graduate projects and mentored fieldwork experiences; under scholarship this individual will be involved with research activities in the field of education and/or the faculty member’s field of practice and  under service will serve on university committees or programs  or allied professional organizations.  While it is expected that up to 90% of the faculty member’s effort will be teaching and other education or service related duties as assigned, 10% of the time will be made available for the faculty member to pursue their areas of scholarship.  There are minimal administrative responsibilities including admission selection of prospective students and participation in promotion and maintenance processes of the program. 

Applicants must have a commitment to teaching at the graduate level along with an excellent record of scholarship accomplishments that demonstrate subject matter expertise and knowledge. Preference will be given to the candidate who demonstrates his/her ability in areas of Academic Clinical Research,  Development and Coordination, as well exhibits a solid knowledge of information systems concepts, techniques and practices.

The Director will be responsible for supervising the faculty who support the program, coordinating all of the teaching and training activities that the program provides, establishing and facilitating interactions with external organizations and institutions to make internship opportunities available for the students, coordinating and participating in the recruitment of students for the program, serving as a mentor for students and identifying the needs and representing the interests of the program within the institution. This position requires a versatile and highly motivated individual with strong interpersonal, leadership, and organizational skills to help maintain and grow the program within the Division. Essential Functions

The instructor of Clinical Trials Research Associate is primarily responsible for the planning, delivery, and evaluation of classroom instruction, and providing related services and support activities required for optimal student learning and effective educational programming. As a member of the Clinical Trials Research Associate faculty, the instructor is also accountable for assisting and supporting the program director, field coordinator and/or department dean, as needed, in meeting the instructional and curricular requirements of the program, department, and division. More specifically, and consistent with the employee’s current contract of appointment.

Minimum Qualifications

1. The instructor must hold a minimum of a master’s degree in either clinical research, nursing, allied health sciences, life sciences, social sciences, or another related field
2. Must have had at least three (3) years’ of recent experience as a clinical research associate/monitor or clinical data manager in a pharmaceutical company, a medical device company, or contract research organization
3. Should have at least one (1) year of experience in the training of clinical research professionals within a pharmaceutical company, a medical device company, or contract research organization
4. Must be familiar with:
• virtual clinical trials
• real-time and remote risk-based monitoring
• eTMS, CTMS, and EDC technology

Work Experience

1. Must have had at least three (3) years’ experience as a research site study coordinator., clinical research associate, clinical data manager, clinical safety professional, or other clinical research professional in a pharmaceutical company, medical device company, contract research organization, or research center
2. Should have at least one (1) year of experience in the training of clinical research professionals within a pharmaceutical company, medical device company, contract research organization, or research center.

Preferred Qualifications

Highly preferred to have current certification by a clinical research professional organization (such as the Society of Clinical Research Associates, the Association of Clinical Research Professionals, Society of Clinical Data Management, Regulatory Affairs Professionals Society, or other clinical research professional organization) or must demonstrate competency through a combination of years of industry experience and a record of participation, publications and or presentations to relevant professional organizations/societies/associations within five years of appointment to the position.

Novartis Gene Therapies (formerly Avexis) is pleased to announce recruitment for three (3) summer internship Clinical Operations positions at our Bannockburn, IL office for 2021. Please review the attached job description for these paid internship opportunities, which describes our ideal candidates. Preference will be given to students enrolled in a clinical research program.
