Dr. Doreen Waldron Lechner is a clinical research professional with over 40 years of industry experience in drug development covering areas of pre-clinical research, regulatory affairs, and pharmacovigilance along with being a motivated quality and compliance leader with proven ability to effectively manage both projects and personnel. Her career experience along with her basic science area of pharmacology expertise led her to garner an in-depth knowledge of the US and European clinical research based regulations. She has used this knowledge to position quality training, compliance, and facilitation of continuous improvement in the clinical research arena. As a result of her experiences she was named a PharmaVoice 100 Honoree: One of the Most Inspiring People in the Life Sciences Industry recognized for her approach to mentoring.
Dr. Lechner was a faculty member of the Drug Information Association’s Clinical Safety and Pharmacovigilance Certificate Program where she taught a course on “Pragmatic Approaches to Drug Safety across the Pre-Marketing and Post-Marketing Continuum.” She has been recognized by PharmaVoice as “One of the 100 Most Inspiring People in the Life-Sciences Industry” due to her unique mentoring approach. She is an active member of the Consortium of Academic Programs in Clinical Research as their By-Law Chair as well as the Partners for Advancing the Clinical Research Workforce Innovation Steering Committee of Association of Clinical Research Professionals. Dr. Lechner was co-lead on the Workforce Development Core of NJACTS (a CTSA hub) for several years.
Prior to receiving the academic appointment of Program Director and Assistant Professor of the Rutgers University, School of Health Professions MS Clinical Research Management Program, she served as the Vice President - Pharmacovigilance at Telerx (formerly Sentrx) as well as held management positions at Bristol-Myers Squibb, Schering–Plough and Ayerst Pharmaceuticals in the areas of Regulatory Affairs, Drug Safety and Pre-Clinical Drug Metabolism earlier in her career. Dr. Lechner received her undergraduate degree from Seton Hall University and her doctoral degree in Pharmacology from Rutgers University - Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences.
